Restaurant Frenchie has been a cult favorite foodie restaurant for the past ten years, and it recently earned a well-deserved Michelin star. It has been notoriously difficult to score a reservation at this small (and pretty fabulous) restaurant for years now.

Chef and owner Gregory Marchand basically took over the street Rue du Nil, and now has, in addition to its flagship restaurant:

  • Frenchie Bar à Vins (aka Frenchie Wine Bar) – No reservations accepted, but still the same excellent level of food in small plate form
  • Frenchie To Go (more casual, and I’ll expand here)
  • Frenchie Caviste – a great little wine shop

I’d like to talk about Frenchie To Go (aka FTG) for its breakfast & brunch game. I have a lot of brunch favorites, but sometimes brunch can take a while.

This is a great option if you want something quick but still delicious that is substantial.

Paris is more about that croissant life for breakfast. All pastries, all the time. (Praise hands). But sometimes you want a heartier breakfast with eggs. (Also, praise hands).

FTG, lo and behold, has breakfast sandwiches for your bacon & egg fix. Which is sometimes very much needed.

The bacon, egg & cheddar breakfast sandwich comes on an English muffin, and if you spy their bacon and maple syrup scone in the pastry selection, don’t miss that. If you’re feeling more on the healthy side, go for a bowl of granola with fromage blanc.

Otherwise, there’s a few other egg dishes, pancakes, and of course coffee and OJ.

At lunch, they can provide you with the likes of a pastrami sandwich, Reuben, pulled pork, fish and chips, or even a quality beef hot dog, if you’re craving some decidedly non-French food. At night, they have a fun selection of wines and aero-style small plates.

Basically, they can meet your needs for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, 7 days a week.

When it comes to the Rue du Nil empire, my vote is FTG for breakfast and the wine bar for dinner.

Frenchie to Go (FTG)
